The Challenge
Some stories are too important to tell in sixty seconds.
CF Martin & Co. has been building the world's finest acoustic guitars in Nazareth, Pennsylvania since 1833. Nearly two centuries of craft, innovation, and an unbroken commitment to excellence that has put a Martin guitar in the hands of virtually every great American acoustic artist who ever lived. When their PR agency came to Rhythm looking for a new kind of storytelling, we knew immediately that this wasn't a social media project.
This was a documentary.
Our Strategy
We are a company built by musicians. Guitarists, songwriters, and lifelong music obsessives who understood before we ever walked through Martin's factory doors that what lived inside that building wasn't just manufacturing. It was American cultural history being made by hand, one guitar at a time. So when we sat down with Jason Ahner, Martin's Archives and Museum Manager and one of the most knowledgeable guitar historians alive, we didn't conduct an interview. We had the conversation we had been waiting our whole careers to have.
We went deep. Into the history and the roots. Into the innovations that changed American music and the decisions made across generations of the Martin family that kept the company independent, uncompromising, and singular. Into the museum itself, where nearly two centuries of instruments, artifacts, and stories live behind glass waiting for the world to find them.
Then we picked up the cameras and walked the factory floor.
The result was a fifty minute cinematic tour of one of the most remarkable manufacturing facilities in America. Shot to feel like the experience of actually being there, walking beside the craftsmen, watching the wood become something extraordinary, understanding for the first time what it actually means to build a Martin guitar. A film that guitar lovers anywhere in the world can watch and feel, genuinely feel, what makes these instruments unlike anything else ever made.
Fifty videos in total. A complete content universe built around authentic, artistic storytelling that took Martin from a brand that showed its guitars to a brand that finally told its story.
America's oldest guitar manufacturer deserved a documentary worthy of its legacy.
Rhythm was built for exactly this moment.
